Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa is accepting applications for an AmeriCorps Website and Social Media Corpsmember (ages 18-25). Member will serve in a single-placement setting at the University of Minnesota and will work with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, providing communication and outreach assistance to raise public awareness of the Monarch Joint Venture initiative. Service activities will include creating and implementing strategic social media campaigns, writing blog posts, press releases and magazine articles, and assisting with website content updates and other program development as needed. Position is a full-time AmeriCorps service opportunity.
LOCATION: *This is not a residential program. Member is responsible for finding their own housing near work location.

TERM DATES, HOURS, STIPEND & AWARD:
— Term: May 18, 2015 – May 15, 2016
— Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (typical)
— Living allowance: stipend of $1565/mo
— Education award: $5550 upon successful completion of term
POSITION SUMMARY:
Member will assist in building the capacity of important public service work on the Monarch Joint Venture, of which the US Fish and Wildlife service is a partner. Through communication and outreach, member will identify creative opportunities in existing and new channels to optimize public awareness of the Monarch Joint Venture initiative. This position requires work in both indoor and outdoor settings, with occasional demands for moderately strenuous activities. Member will attend Conservation Corps AmeriCorps training sessions, site visits, orientations and workshops, as well as plan and implement training days with other Conservation Corps programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
— Positive attitude and strong commitment to service and community work.
— Self-directed with a high comfort level for taking initiative and ownership of a project.
— Strong written and oral communication skills.
— Strong organizational and word processing skills.
— Relevant coursework in biology, ecology or related field of study and/or equivalent professional experience such that the applicant can adequately communicate natural phenomena.
— Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
— Experience with social media marketing (websites, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
— Ability to work independently and in groups.
— Previous experience or education with natural resource management or social media is preferred but not required; 15-20% of the service term is dedicated to technical and personal-skills training.
