Description
There are two seasonal full-time positions open with the Oregon Department of Forestry located at the Tillamook Forest Center.  These seasonal positions generally work from mid-March through early September or early May through November. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates for these NRS 1 positions and other seasonal NRS 1 vacancies as they occur. The Tillamook Forest Center is a visitor center located on the Wilson River on Highway 6 in the Oregon Coast Range, about an hour’s drive west of downtown Portland and 30 minutes east of Tillamook.

The Oregon Department of Forestry’s (ODF) Mission is – To serve the people of Oregon through the protection, management, and promotion of a healthy forest environment, which will enhance Oregon’s livability and economy for today and tomorrow. ODF is a multi-programmed, multi-funded public agency chartered and structured to administer the forest laws and policies of the State of Oregon, within the framework of sustainable forests, for the benefit of all Oregonians.

These positions conduct interpretive and education programs for a wide range of audiences leading programs at the Tillamook Forest Center and in other locations. These positions involve the discussion of harvesting and managing the forest for a balance of social, environmental and economic values.  During program sessions and interactions with the public, these positions are responsible for ensuring a safe, quality experience for participants and visitors, coordinating any necessary program logistics, and assessing overall effectiveness of activities.  Quality customer service and team work are essential parts of the job.
