City of Monrovia
Location: Canyon Park, California
The City of Monrovia is engaged in an exciting process of renewal to enhance its position as one of the premier municipalities in the nation, and we are looking for a unique and special individual to join our team as a Park Specialist with the Public Services Department – Library and Recreation Division. The ideal candidate we are looking for is anything but ordinary – in fact, we are looking for the extraordinary!
Projects and Assignments Include:
Ø Foot patrol urban and natural parks and trails
Ø Lead educational and community tours
Ø Restore natural habitats
Ø Maintain and oversee educational, live animal and interpretative displays
Ø Maintain trails and grounds
Ø Organize and coordinate volunteer and community outreach programs
The ideal candidate should understand the importance of wildlife preservation, community outreach and recreation and be able to hike and stand for extended periods of time. Experience in volunteer coordination and resource protection is desirable.
High school graduate or equivalent; possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license. Previous related experience or college work in Biology, Natural Sciences, Forestry, Law Enforcement, Environmental Science, Public Service, Public Administration or a closely related field is desirable. Ability to perform facility, trails and landscape maintenance duties; background and knowledge of wildlife, ecology, plant life, habitat restoration and urban forestry, desirable.
Experience working with Microsoft applications such as word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point. PC 832 Arrest and Control certificate desirable and must be obtained within 1 year from date of hire.
