Position Summary: Intern will provide marketing assistance to drive traffic and awareness to SHADOW’s brand and community programs and to assist in the execution of SHADOW’s fundraising events throughout the year. Specific duties will be discussed during interviews but may include the following: media outreach, creating and/or distributing marketing and press materials—both print and web-based, event promotional materials, market research, and general office administration.


  • Design, update, and implement new marketing and promotional materials for SHADOW’s branding and programs, including both web and print-based materials
  • Assist with program recruitment and promotion
  • Assist with social media management
  • Research potential community outreach and engagement opportunities for SHADOW
  • Utilize and coordinate organizational calendars to plan activities
  • Work with Community Engagement and Program Manager to develop marketing and communications strategy and timeline
  • Represent SHADOW professionally at community outreach and networking events
  • Produce and support the execution of SHADOW’s winter-fundraising activities
  • Assist with website design, database administration, daily operational and other administrative tasks
  • Provide programmatic support to the Community Engagement and Program Manager as needed


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are an essential requirement of this position
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate confidently and friendly with local community members as a SHADOW representative
  • Enthusiasm for and inherent commitment to environmental conservation and protection highly desired
  • Strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and sense of humor a must!
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar database management systems preferred
  • Experience/knowledge with marketing, outreach and presentations
  • Proficiency and understanding of social media
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal daily supervisor and communicate effectively and transparently
  • Experience with, or understanding of, ecological restoration projects desired
  • Proficiency with website design desirable
  • Proficiency with graphic design software tools desirable


  • At least a sophomore status in college or university; studies in environmental sciences, education or related field preferred
  • College-level coursework and/or experience in marketing, education, and public speaking desirable
