Project Associate / Environmental Educator

Triangle Associates Inc, a small environmental consulting firm, is looking for a dependable and enthusiastic environmental educator to join our long-standing team. We are seeking candidates looking for a full-time 10 month (September-June) position. The work will be primarily in King County, with some potential work in Snohomish County.

Responsibilities
Technical Assistance/Program Development
Provide technical assistance on waste reduction and recycling, energy and water conservation to schools or businesses.
Conduct waste audits and provide recommendations to institutions implementing conservation programs.
Facilitate school or business project teams to implement program recommendations.
Support students and adults with school-based projects.

Environmental Education Programs
Present classroom workshops 2-4 days/week on a variety of environmental topics.
Develop, lead and/or assist with new classroom presentations and training programs.
Prepare newsletter articles, lesson support, and other written materials.
Facilitate student groups in how to conduct and implement program projects.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in environmental education or related field.
Minimum of two years’ experience working with children, teens, and students ages 6-18 (teaching in a classroom setting preferred). Relevant volunteer or academic experience may substitute for work experience.
Experience in working with diverse communities is preferable.
Experience providing technical assistance a plus.
Excellent classroom management skills and ability to work under pressure in a school setting. Able to adapt teaching style for various ages and learning styles.
Voice projection, improvisational skills, and know-how to present information in an engaging and hands-on manner.
Team player and ability to work with a wide range of individuals in a variety of settings.
Background knowledge of and interest in learning more about environmental issues such as water conservation, watershed protection, renewable energy, recycling, and waste reduction (preferred).
Creativity and energy with students!
Excellent organizational and self-managing skills.
Clear, written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office suite-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
A reliable car, valid Washington State driver’s license, clean driving record, and auto insurance covering bodily injury and property damage.
Must be available to work during school hours with possible early travel start times (between 6 AM and 5 PM) with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Willingness to drive to schools throughout King and Snohomish counties.
Ability to carry props and workshop materials.

Compensation
$16-$19/hour based on experience.
Monthly benefits allowance which includes medical, as well as paid vacation and sick time.
Travel time and mileage at the IRS-approved rate reimbursed if car is required. (Note: Car is not required for general meetings in downtown Seattle.)
