The Zoological Society of Florida seeks a Proposal and Grants Writer to provide support the Director of Institutional Giving in the implementation and operation of fund raising activities. Responsibilities include developing and preparing proposals and grants to individuals, foundations and corporations, post-award reporting and stewardship process, as well as research, outcomes-based evaluations and subsequent reports and budget amendments. The position also involves supporting other Development activities, such as events.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor Degree, 3 years of nonprofit development experience, including grant writing and grants management, research skills, thorough knowledge of word processing, database management, proficiency with spreadsheet programs and excellent verbal and written communication skills. We require superior organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment and the willingness to work long hours as needed and in weeks leading up to major events or activities. The position is based in a busy office environment, generally working within normal operating hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Some weekend and evening hours may be required due to grant deadlines, scheduled events and other fund raising activities. Knowledge of not-for-profit funding sources a plus; experience with Raisers Edge is also a plus. The successful candidate must be a team player.
